Chartway Partnerships Group has completed a key phase of the Forge Wood development in Crawley, delivering 43 contemporary apartments and ground-floor commercial units as part of one of the South East’s largest new residential neighbourhoods.

The completion is Chartway’s first completed project in West Sussex and a successful collaboration with Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes on behalf of Crawley Borough Council.

Located at the heart of the new village centre, the completed building provides much-needed homes above ground-floor commercial units, helping to establish the local services that will support residents as Forge Wood continues to grow.

Forge Wood is Crawley’s first major residential expansion in more than 20 years. Once complete, it will comprise around 1,900 homes, a new primary school, shops and commercial space, employment opportunities, community facilities and extensive green open space. Designed as a sustainable mixed-use neighbourhood, the masterplan brings together homes, green infrastructure and local amenities to create a well-connected place where people can live, work and enjoy everyday life close to home.

David Murphy, Chief Operations Officer, Chartway Partnerships Group, said:

“Completing this phase at Forge Wood is a significant milestone for Chartway. Not only does it mark our first completed project in West Sussex, it also demonstrates what can be achieved through long-term collaboration.

“Creating successful communities takes more than building high-quality homes. It requires a shared ambition to create neighbourhoods where people genuinely want to live, with the homes, green spaces, local facilities and infrastructure that support everyday life. Forge Wood is an excellent example of organisations working together to create lasting value for both current and future residents.

“We are proud to have worked alongside Crawley Borough Council, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey to complete this important phase of the wider masterplan and look forward to building on the relationships we have established as we continue to strengthen our presence across Sussex.”

Colin Eves, Project Manager for Crawley Borough Council, said:

“Forge Wood has been carefully planned as a neighbourhood where people can put down roots, with homes, schools, green spaces and local facilities developing together to create a sustainable and thriving place to live.

“The completion of this latest phase is another important step towards realising that vision. We would like to thank Chartway, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey for their collaborative approach and commitment to creating high-quality homes that will benefit local people for many years to come.”

The completion of Forge Wood marks an important milestone in Chartway’s continued growth across the South East. As the company’s first completed project in West Sussex, it demonstrates Chartway’s commitment to working alongside partners to deliver high-quality homes and create places where communities can thrive.
